Our Staff
Dr. Mark Kinzer is the rabbi of Congregation Zera Avraham. Ordained to the
rabbinate in 2001 by the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations, he has led our congregation
since its inception in 1993.
Rabbi Kinzer received his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from the University
of Michigan in 1995. He has taught at the University of Michigan, Michigan
State University, and Fuller Theological Seminary. Rabbi Kinzer currently serves
as President and Theology Department Chair of Messianic Jewish Theological Institute,
the leadership-training center for the Union of Messianic Jewish
Congregations.
Rabbi Kinzer is also the chairman of the board of Hashivenu, a group that
sponsors an annual theology forum for Messianic Jewish leaders in Pasadena,
California.
Rabbi Kinzer is the author of Postmissionary Messianic Judaism: Redefining
Christian Engagement With The Jewish People (Brazos, 2005). (more details)
Our Assistant Congregational Leader is Allen Singer. As a graduate of the
Philadelphia College of Art, Allen began his professional career as an Art
Director, later becoming Creative Director and finally an advertising agency owner.
He is currently pursuing Smikhah (Rabbinical Ordination) at Messianic Jewish
Theological Institute. He has spoken at the Union of Messianic Jewish
Congregations national conference, the University of Michigan, and numerous
churches.
Allen is a member of the Association of Religious Counselors at the
University of Michigan and is Director of the Shoresh Institute for the Study of
Judaism and the New Testament, an educational outreach of Congregation Zera Avraham.
Our Ritual Director is Isaac Roussel. Isaac began his career as an environmental chemist, but now works as a web designer in the financial industry.
He is a speaker for our Shoresh Institute, where he speaks in churches about the Jewish Roots of Christianity.
Isaac has taken adult education classes in Talmud at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) and courses at Messianic Jewish Theological Institute (MJTI).
